Scratch and dent wall ovens
A built-in wall oven is set into a cabinet cutout, and only the front face stays visible. Dents on the sides, top or bottom of the oven box are hidden forever once it is installed.
Where the damage usually is
Outlet wall ovens tend to have damage on the outer box or the mounting flanges, which are covered by cabinetry.
What to check before you buy
- Measure the existing cutout and compare it with the installation guide for the exact model. Cutout sizes differ between brands and even between generations of the same brand.
- Inspect the door glass and the front trim, which are the visible parts.
- Check the electrical requirement. Double wall ovens usually need a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized for the model.
- Open each door and look at the hinges and the door seal for damage.
